Lab: Maps

Choropleth Maps are a thematic map in which areas are shaded or patterned to show a measurement varies across a geographic area.

Dot Density Maps use a dot symbol to show the presence of a feature or phenomenon and rely on a visual scatter to show a spatial pattern.

Proportional Symbol Maps use symbols of different sizes to represent data associated with different areas within the map.

Isopleth Maps are contour maps that depict smooth continuous phenomena, like elevation, with lines that represent 3-D surfaces.

Environmental Sensitivity Index Maps provide a concise summary of coastal zone natural resources.
